Why Do Monday’s Always Suck

15 Nov

Two years ago I worked in an office. I had a job, a title, money-life was good. I wasn’t always happy with my job but I made it work.

I was presented with an option, stay and possibly have my hours and or wage cut or take a voluntary layoff. Since I wanted to be home with my son, I took the layoff. It was Monday September 7 and my last day was going to be Friday September 11. I was going to be free but we would be loosing our disposable income.

In the 3 months following my departure from my stable job, I was able to find a postition working in the preschool my son attended. It wasn’t the corporate world, shoot it wasn’t even full time but it did get me out of the house and I brought in a little bit of money, so it worked.  By the beginning of the year I was pregnant with our second child.

A new baby! Yay! But I didn’t have a full time job and babies are…well babies cost money. And since my baby was going to be born the first of September I wasn’t going to be asked to teach again the next year.

Here we go again.

It wasn’t long until I had found another job and how I found it was a crazy story. I had reconnected with an old friend from middle school on Facebook, the face book of all places! It was a crazy how it all worked out and the part about all of it was I would be able to work from home. It was the best of both worlds.

Flash forward to today, Monday. I was given another pink slip.Six weeks before Christmas. Not because revenue is down, my performance isn’t lacking. I got a pink slip because her husband got a pink slip. I’m not upset. It was a snowball effect and if anything I am sick for the other people who got laid off -6 weeks before Christmas.

Just One More Thing to Remember

14 Nov

I am sure you have seen the commercials for Downy Unstopables with Amy Sedaris. I must say, I love her commercial and she sold me on her product but what do they really do?

Purex makes a fabric softener that looks similar to the Unstaopables but those soften your fabric. These just make it smell better. Isn’t that what laundry detergent, fabric softener, and drier sheets do? Now I need something else I to buy at the store and remember to toss in the laundry. Sheesh. I barely get the clothes folded as it is.

I once washed 2 whole loads of laundry with out putting fabric softener in. I kid you not. Now I have to remember to add detergent and scent boosters.

I might need to make a list.

Happy Endings

3 Nov

I have so many projects going on right now, it is crazy. I need to sit down and make another list of things I want/need to finish.

Do you ever feel that way? Like life is pulling you in 5 million directions and you just don’t know which way to go?

With Christmas coming up I have a few things I want to make for my daughter. A cute dress and some clothes for her baby dolls. I think I might add some stockings to my list. I bought one for my son and they don’t make it anymore and I want them to match…But not be matchy matchy.

I started a board on Pinterest of pins I have pinned with the picture of things I have made. Hopefully I will be able to add something to that board soon!

I would love to see the things you are working on. I need some happy endings to projects!

Turning Idea’s Into Reality

12 Oct

I have been pinning things to pinterest like CRAZY. Things I want to make, idea’s on how to style my bedroom, recipes everything I tell you!

Well I am tired of just pinning. I am going to start doing! Hopefully I can do a couple a month and share pictures. At least one a month.

Home School vs Traditional School

4 Oct

Home schooling is a topic that is brought up in my house a couple times a month. Not really because we are going to home school but because we have a family member who does it and we think they are doing it wrong.

Ok, don’t get all mad and ready to rip me a new one. We are intitled to have our own opinion about things. Whether they be right or wrong. Every gets an opinion.

Back to my situation. I was asked it I plan on home schooling my children. The first answer that popped into my head was not no, but HELL NO. I am one of those parents who will cherish the hours between 8 and 3 while my child is in the very capable hands of someone else. Filling their beautiful minds up with knowledge. I will finally be able to go do things like grab a cup of coffee and get a pedi. Oh, and clean my house.

After this question was posed to me I found myself thinking “You know this schoolin’ at the house might be something to look into” or “the high school we are zoned for sucks and you know you wouldn’t send your dog there”. The schools around us for Primary school or what most call Elementary these days are really great. We even have the option to attend magnet schools. If you don’t have them in a nutshell it is a school within the public system you apply for. Like a private public school. But the high school isn’t great.

I have a few years yet and at this moment I am sending them to public school. No doubt. At all. I went to public school and there is nothing wrong with me. Although now I find myself thinking about home schooling these children. Not that I want to or don’t want to. I just feel like I need to jump on the band wagon with everyone else and do it. Crazy, I know. Then a friend, who has been home schooling for the better part of two decades told me something that I will never forget. “It is your decision, you don’t have to do it. Do whatever is best for YOU and the kids.” When those words were spoken to me I felt a weight being lifted off my shoulders. For serious.

What is best for us is going to be going to school. Leaving the house and being with others, learning from a teacher who is not mom or dad and coming home to tell all about it.

What do you do? Traditional school or home school?

Bedroom Nightmare

25 Sep

I wish I could tell you that beautiful bedroom pictured above was mine. But, it’s not. Isn’t it lovely?

No, my master bedroom is a mess. I have a good sized room filled with loads of nothing. A treadmill is occupying on corner. A pack and play is at the foot of my bed. And I sadly do not have a dresser or nightstands.

I just realized if I moved the treadmill and pack and play out I would have nothing but a bed and a laundry basket in our bedroom. Sad.

I have been doing some research on bedspreads, paint, curtains, cute pillows. You know the essentials. I want something cozy.Something beautiful. Something other than what I have now.

Thank You Jerk Face

20 Sep

Today I packed up the kids and headed to Walmart. I needed to get out of the house so bad. When I pulled into the parking lot I spotted a space that would be grand. Let me note, I do not mind walking. But when I have two kids and I am alone, I want a close spot.

As I waited for the cart boy to push the weeks worth of buggies back into the store some piss ant in his beat up convertable cut through the handie capped spots and took MY parking spot.

I was waiting like a decent human being and he took my spot! My blood boiled.

We walked through the store checking out the toys, grabbing some more construction paper and glitter (we LOVE glitter) and ending our trip grabbing some cinnamon rolls for breakfast this weekend.

As I walked out to my car I saw a woman getting into her van. She had parked next to the Jerk Face who stole my spot. Her cart was beating the ever loving hell out his mid-life crisis car. Karma is a bitch!

So thank you Mr. JF for taking my spot and saving my car from being beat half to shit.
